New Kids on the Block:CDP's First Elected Officials

The  Centrist Democratic Party of the Philippines (CDP)- Ang Partido ng Tunay na Demokrasya was dubbed "new kid on the block"   by one of the country's national newspaper on the day of its First National Congress last March 25, 2012. Six months thereafter, the CDP was granted official capacity by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to act as national political party which date September 12, 2012 was very close to the filing of Certificates of Candidacy for the May 2013 Elections and despite such limitations,CDP made a historic milestone as  elected government officials will take their oath of offices on June 30, 2013 before serving their terms of offices. 


Eight (8) elected candidates have officially filed under CDP which list is headed by its incumbent Party President, re-electionist, Congressman Rufus B. Rodriguez of the 2nd District of Cagayan de Oro City; councilors-elect Emmanuel "Manny" Salibay of Iligan City, Margielou Orange Humilde of Alaminos City, Pangasinan; Ariel Arceo of Guiguinto, Bulacan; Maricris Duran, Rosie Palconite and Felicitas Baguinon and Mayor-elect Melchor Melgar of Salcedo, Eastern Samar;  two(2) 
CDP members who are supported by their districts but filed as independent candidates, Razul Ebus, Vice-Mayor elect and Sammy Ibrahim, councilor-elect of Datu Piang, Maguindanao; two(2) candidates not officially supported by district but are CDP members who ran as independents are councilors-elect Samuel Huertas and Simplicio "Pisyong" Larrazabal III of Iligan City and one (1) district supported CDP member but filed under LP, Teodulfo "Bong" Lao, Jr of the 2nd district of Cagayan de Oro City which totals to thirteen (13) centrist government officials in a tenure of three(3) years.


The Newly Elected Officials of CDP participated in a training "How to Govern After Winning Elections" as invited  by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) in Tagaytay City last June 21-22, 2013 have organized themselves as CDP-SIBUL (Simula ng Bagong Umaga at Landasin). 


This is just the beginning as CDP continues to inspire, aspire and perspire for good governance anchored on valuing dignity of every Filipino.

The two seats not occupied are imaginary chairs (with inset photos) for the winning candidates who could not make it during the event due to prior commitments; at the center would be the CDP President, Rufus Rodriguez, House of Representatives re-electionist of the CDP District 2 of Cagayan de Oro City and Simplicio "Pisyong" Larrazabal III, councilor-reelectionist CDP member independent candidate of District of Iligan City.
